Why is Loki's son a wolf Valhalla?

According to the legends, Fenrir is the great wolf prophesized to devour Odin during the battle of Ragnarok. He is the son of Loki, and his siblings are the goddess Hel and Jormungandr, the Midgard Serpent. Despite Odin's effort to find a loophole in the threads of the Fates, events continue to unfold as foretold.
